Next steps for business awards

Entries for the Mount Alexander Business Awards have now closed with a fantastic response from local businesses and the community.

“The business awards provide the opportunity to recognise and celebrate our local businesses for their achievements,” David Leathem, Manager Economy and Culture, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“We received more than 50 entries, and their high calibre is a great reflection on our business community,” said Mr Leathem.

“We’re really pleased to see so many businesses took the time to enter, share their business practices and the innovative things they are doing.

“Council and our program partners would like to thank everyone that entered and wish them the best of luck,” he said.

Council received more than 340 nominations from the community for local businesses across six award categories:

• Manufacturing, construction and trade
• Agribusiness
• Retail, hospitality and tourism
• Microbusiness
• Professional services
• Creative and cultural.

The winners of each category will be in the running for the coveted Business of the Year award, with the winner receiving $2,000 prize money.

The judging panel will be announced in June and the awards program will culminate with a celebration at a gala event in August.

The awards are run in partnership with Maldon & District Community Bank® and The Midland Express/Castlemaine Mail.

They are proudly supported by Business Mount Alexander, Maldon Inc., Regional Development Victoria and Workspace Australia as individual award sponsors.
